What NayaPay is
NayaPay is an electronic-money service in Pakistan, with a PKR wallet and Visa debit-card products. A working crypto purchase route permitted by NayaPay has not been verified in the official material reviewed. Don’t load the wallet for that purpose solely because a tutorial mentions it.
NayaPay’s consumer terms distinguish its electronic-money balance from a bank account or deposit. Its authorization as an Electronic Money Institution should not be read as confirmation that it operates a crypto exchange.
Using NayaPay to buy crypto
A wallet transfer and a card purchase need separate checks. With a wallet transfer, you would be paying another recipient. In a crypto P2P trade, that recipient would then owe you crypto through a separate marketplace order.
NayaPay’s card-payment guidance, last updated in March 2023 and still published, specifically tells customers to avoid cryptocurrency sites. Treat crypto card purchases as unsupported unless NayaPay confirms that its policy has changed. General international Visa acceptance is not permission to pay a crypto merchant.
The unresolved issue is this payment service’s permission and a working purchase route, not a blanket claim that cryptocurrency is illegal in Pakistan.
NayaPay advantages and limitations
What we like
- An existing customer has a local-currency wallet and separate Visa payment options to evaluate. These are ordinary payment features, not verified crypto buying benefits.
- NayaPay provides official support and a published schedule of charges for checking a proposed payment.
What holds it back
- A current, provider-permitted crypto purchase route has not been established.
- International card acceptance doesn’t mean a crypto merchant accepts the card.
- P2P payment delivery and crypto delivery would be separate parts of the transaction.
Where NayaPay works
The wallet covered here is denominated in Pakistani rupees. NayaPay’s consumer agreement requires customers to be at least 18 and to meet its registration and verification conditions. Card use abroad doesn’t turn it into a worldwide account-opening service.
Exchange residency rules also apply. A seller willing to receive PKR cannot override either provider’s restrictions.
What to do before attempting a purchase
- Describe the proposed route precisely. Decide whether it is a Visa purchase from a crypto business or a wallet transfer to a P2P seller. Don’t ask support only whether international payments work.
- Obtain provider confirmation. Ask NayaPay about that crypto-related transaction and keep its response. A payment option appearing on another site is not NayaPay’s approval.
- Check the exchange independently. Confirm that your country, identity and payment method are eligible. Establish whether the recipient is the exchange itself or another person.
- Review costs before funding. Obtain a complete quote. Without a confirmed route, use another explicitly supported method instead of experimenting with transfers.
How much does it cost?
Start with NayaPay’s current Schedule of Charges. The relevant item depends on whether you are making a domestic transfer or an international card payment; they should not be given one combined fee.
For any confirmed card route, account for currency conversion, the issuer’s applicable charges and the merchant’s purchase fee or markup. For P2P, inspect the seller’s PKR price per coin. Any later trade and crypto withdrawal would introduce separate possible costs. There is no verified all-in NayaPay crypto fee to quote here.
What to check before paying
Use accounts in your own name and check the recipient before authorizing anything. For a permitted P2P order, confirm that the marketplace holds the seller’s crypto in escrow while payment is completed. Escrow would protect the marketplace leg under its rules, not automatically undo a wallet transfer.
Don’t change the stated purpose, split payments or use someone else’s account to get around a restriction. When a card transaction is declined or a transfer is held, ask the provider about that transaction rather than repeatedly retrying it.
NayaPay FAQ
A native Bitcoin purchase feature was not verified in the official product information reviewed.
NayaPay’s published card guidance tells customers to avoid cryptocurrency sites. Don’t use the card for a crypto purchase unless NayaPay confirms that this restriction has changed and the merchant accepts the card.
No. Marketplace availability and payment-provider permission are different requirements.
The consumer wallet covered by its agreement is PKR-denominated. A foreign-currency card payment does not change that.
Compare the total PKR leaving your account against the final crypto received, including conversion, merchant or seller charges and any later withdrawal.
Save the payment reference and order details. Contact NayaPay about the payment and the merchant or marketplace about delivery. Do not pay an additional release fee to the seller.
