Deposits and Withdrawals

Gate follows a zero-fee policy for deposits, so users can fund their accounts without any platform charges. GateToken (GT)

GateToken (GT) is Gate’s exchange utility token and the native asset of GateChain. It connects account benefits, such as eligible fee reductions and token rewards, with blockchain uses such as gas payments. Holding GT creates exposure to the token’s price as well as to Gate’s ecosystem; a trading discount does not protect the value of the holding.

GT fees, rewards and blockchain use

• Fee deduction: Gate’s April 2026 fee update lists VIP 0 spot maker and taker fees of 0.10%, or 0.09% with GT fee deduction. That is a 10% reduction in the fee, not a 10-percentage-point reduction. The account must use the GT deduction feature; simply owning GT in an unrelated wallet does not apply it. Gate documents an explicit deduction setting. Higher VIP tiers and different products have their own rates, so check the current account fee schedule and available GT balance before trading.
• Launch rewards: Gate now lists HODLer Airdrops for GT holders and Launchpool staking campaigns. These are separate products. A holding-based airdrop is not the same as committing tokens to a staking pool. Read the individual campaign’s supported assets, balance snapshots, identity and regional requirements, subscription steps and reward period. An old Startup threshold or an expired campaign does not establish eligibility for a new event.
• Gas and staking: GT is also used within Gate’s blockchain ecosystem. The Gate Layer launch announcement identifies GT as its gas token and explains that Gate Layer uses GateChain for settlement. GateChain staking and exchange-hosted earning products have different custody, withdrawal and reward rules; neither offers a guaranteed return.

GT supply, burns and buying

Gate’s July 6, 2026 report for Q2 2026 records a burn of 2,570,063.3829548 GT, bringing cumulative burns to 189,947,219 GT, or about 63.32% of the report’s original 300-million-token base. These are dated burn figures, not today’s circulating supply. Gate publishes the transaction for inspection. Burns reduce supply, but their size and any effect on market price depend on other factors, including demand and selling activity.

For readers who want actual GT rather than a derivatives position, the practical route is the GT/USDT spot market:

1. Check that Gate and the relevant services are available to your account and complete the required verification.
2. Fund the account, open spot trading and select GT/USDT. A GT perpetual contract does not supply spendable GT.

Gate Security

Gate promptly removed the affected service upon discovery and reported that user funds remained secure. Additionally, in October 2022, Gate.io’s official Twitter account was compromised and used to promote a phishing scam involving a fake $500,000 USDT giveaway. The exchange responded by securing the account and compensating affected users for any losses incurred due to the breach.

Gate has also taken steps to enhance transparency by providing Proof of Reserves, verified through third-party audits, to demonstrate that it holds sufficient assets to cover user balances.
